This past weekend, members of Dallas-Uptown Rotary gathered together at Bonton Farms, Dallas' first urban farm. Uptowners planted 17 peach trees that could be ready to begin bearing fruit as early as this summer!
From the Bonton Farms website: "What started as a small garden in a vacant lot in this little inner-city neighborhood, quickly turned into the City of Dallas’ first urban farm. The original farm is 1.25 acres boldly situated in the South Dallas community of Bonton, an area ravaged by generational poverty, crime, and classified by the USDA as a food desert." From this small beginning, the farms have expanded to a extension unit of 20 acres of food producing land. Bonton Farm employs members of the Bonton community and welcomes volunteers of all ages!  For more information about Bonton Farms, click here
